June 2024 Vehicle Sales Live: As we begin July 2024, automakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Mahindra, Hero motoCorp, Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Honda, Suzuki, TVS, and more will be highlighting their sales for the last month. Here are live updates of their sales last month, along with their sales numbers, YoY growth, and exports.
Vehicle sales data include passenger vehicles sold last month, scooter sales, motorcycle sales, electric vehicle sales, and even commercial vehicles. Was June a successful month, or was it dull for automakers who saw multiple launches in the previous months? Here are all the details.
So far, MG has announced it’s sales numbers, along with Toyota. We also take a look at two-wheeler sales predictions for June 2024, which is expected to see a marginal decline or even flat sales owing to the heatwave and elections. Carmakers such as Kia and Mahindra have witnessed positive growth, while Mahindra’s CV sales has seen a decline. Maruti Suzuki has also reported a decline in its mini and compact segments, while its UV range has seen a YoY growth.

June Auto sales Live: Thats a wrap
We have seen most OEMs reporting sales numbers and PVs have seen a flat YoY growth in June 2024. Two-wheelers have done better, but major OEMs like Royal Enfield have posted negative growth. That said, some two-wheeler makers have seen strong growth as well, in terms of domestic sales and exports.

June Auto sales Live: Nissan sales up 76.3%
Nissan has reported cumulative sales of 10,284 units in June 2024, a YoY growth of 76.3 percent, while its exports stood at 8177 units in June 2024, a YoY growth of 149 percent. Nissan’s domestic sales accounted for 2107 units in June 2024. During the same time, Nissan also reported achieving the 1.1 million export milestone.

June Auto sales Live: Audi retails 1,431 units in Q1 FY 2024-25
Audi reported a total of 1,431 units in the period April-June 2024 in India. This resulted in a 6% YoY decline with respect to the same period the previous year. In Q4 FY 2023-24, the German carmaker grew by 33%.

Ashok Leyland registered a total sales volume of 43893 units of commercial vehicles in June 2024 which included 41559 units sold in the domestic market. Domestic sales declined marginally by 1%.

June Auto Sales Live: Honda two-wheeler sales
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) dispactched a total of 5,18,799 units in June 2024, resulting in an impressive 60% YoY growth. This includes domestic sales of 4,82,597 units and 36,202 units exports. The domestic sales for the month registered a strong 59% YoY growth while the exports grew by a massive 70% over the same period of last year.

Royal Enfield has seen a big drop in terms of exports also in June 2024. The company exported 7,024 units as compared to 9,614 units exported in June 2023, witnessing a 27 percent decline. Royal Enfield’s overall sales has also seen a 5 percent decline in June 2024.

Overall, PV sales have seen a high single digit YoY growth while MoM sales were muted. UVs continue to be popular amongst car buyers in June 2024, while the entry segment hatchbacks have seen a decline compared to June last year. Tata Motors saw its EV sales decline as well as its overall PV sales, while Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and Hyundai posted positive growth.

During the January to June 2024 period, total electric three-wheeler sales accounted for 3,13,967 units compared to 2,46,850 units sold in the same period in 2023. This is a YoY increase of 27 percent. The last six month have seen electric three-wheelers grow MoM.

Greaves Electric Mobility has registered sales of 2,713 units in June 2024, as aopposed to selling 3038 units in June 2023, witnessing a 10.6 percent YoY sales decline. Greaves Electric Mobility is betting big with the Nexus electric scooter, targeted at families, similar to the Ather Rizta and the TVS iQube.

June Auto Sales Live: Ather sales registers 5% YoY decline
Ather, the EV maker based out of Bengaluru has seen a YoY sales decline of 5.8 percent in June 2024, having sold 6,097 units. In comparison, Ather sold 6,479 units in June 2023. The company also saw a a 12 percent sales decline during the January-June 2024 period, having registered sales of 52,235 units compared to 59,319 units sold during the same period last year.

While domestic sales saw a slump in June for Honda, exports saw a two-fold increase. Honda exported 4,972 units last month compared to 2,112 units that were exported in June 2023. Honda also exports the Elevate to other markets from India.

June Auto Sales Live: Hero motorcycle sales see growth
While overall two-wheeler sales have seen an increase, scooter sales saw a decline for Hero last month. That said, motorcycle sales have seen positive growth for Hero. Last month, Hero’s motorcycle sales registered sales of 4,73,228 units as compared to selling 4,04,474 units in June 2023.

Hero MotoCorp has witnessed a 15 percent YoY growth in June, having recorded sales of 5.03 lakh units. In terms of domestic sales, the company recorded sales of 491,416 units, translating to a 16 percent YoY growth. During the quarter end in June, Hero recorded sales of 15.35 lakh, a YoY growth of 13.5 percent.

The two-wheeler sales data released so far indicates that nearly 6 of India’s most dominant two-wheeler manufacturers with 80-85% share of the domestic sales maintained a steady growth compared to the sales last June. June Auto Sales Live: Suzuki posts 15% YoY growth in Q1
Commenting on Suzuki’s sales performance, Devashish Handa – Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are pleased with our sales growth in June 2024 driven by strong demand especially in the Indian market. We have got off to a good start in this financial year, with a healthy 15% year-on-year growth in our sales in the first quarter.”

June Auto Sales Live: Suzuki sales Q1 FY 2023-24
Suzuki sold a total 2,99,176 two-wheelers in India in Q1 FY 2023-24 including 2,51,185 units in the domestic market and 47,991 units exported in the foreign markets.
During the same period in the previous fiscal, Suzuki is sold 2,60,784 two-wheelers including 1,97,358 units in the domestic market and 63,426 units exported in the foreign markets.

June Auto Sales Live: Toyota Kirloskar sees smart improvement in sales
Toyota Kirloskar recorded the biggest growth in car sales in June, at 41%. Interestingly nearly one-third of Toyota’s cars are made by Maruti. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki India had inked a pact in 2019 for product-sharing. This helped the carmakers to rein in cost and also increase volume. Some of the popular Maruti products that are rebadged by Toyota include Glanza which is a rebadged Maruti Baleno. The others include Urban Cruiser Hyryder, that’s a Grand Vitara rebadged and the rebadged Ertiga is sold as the Rumion. Maruti Suzuki’s Invicto is a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross.

June Auto Sales Live: Maruti Suzuki exports rising
Maruti’s June exports saw a strong uptick. On a year-on-year comparison, exports zoomed 57 percent from last June at 31,033 units. Speaking on the company’s sales performance, Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India said, “The fire test of global competitiveness in technology, quality, cost and performance is in exports. Customers in India are also likely to choose models which they know are favourites of customers across many countries of the world. Maruti Suzuki contributes about 42% of all car exports from India.”

Suzuki Motorcycles has registered total sales of 88,287 two-wheelers in June 2024, out of which 71,086 units account for domestic sales and 17,201 units were part of the exports. Suzuki’s total sales saw a growth of 9 percent while domestic sales saw a YoY growth of 13 percent.
