2008 Indoors: Competed in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters... Scored for FIU with a pair of eighth place finishes at the Sun Belt Championships, running 10:37.31 in the 3K and 18:25.01 in the 5K, which were also her top performances of the season.

2007 Cross Country: Ran in five of six races posting a pair of 12th-place finishes at the Sun Belt Conference Championships and the Sodexho Stetson Invitational...Her SBC 5k time of 18:47.98 was a new personal best and ranked 22nd all-time in the FIU women’s record book...Finished 21st at the Walt Disney World Classic (18:55.54) and came in 57th at the NCAA South Regional (23:02.77).

2007 Outdoors: Team’s second-best performer in the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meters... Scored for FIU in the 10K at the Sun Belt Championships, running a 39:29.09... Had top 10 finishes in all three 5K races, led by an 18:05.64 at the Florida Relays which was good for ninth among collegians... Came in fifth at the Disney Invitational 5K with an 18:33.13 run... Placed 10th in lone 3K race of the season, a 10:59.41 at the Golden Knight Twilight.

2007 Indoors: Claimed All-Sun Belt accolades after placing eighth in her lone 5,000 meter performance of the year, a 19:05.50 at the conference meet... Posted another top-10 performance at the Sun Belt Championships with a 3,000 meter time of 11:00.73... Also ran a season-best 10:46.72 in the 3,000 at the Gator Invitational, the third best performance in the event for FIU on the year, and the team’s top time among four competitors on the day.

2006 Cross Country: Competed in five-of-six races with a pair of top-10 finishes... Crossed the finish line fourth at the University of Miami Tri-Meet and 10th at the NSU Sharks Invitational... Finished 33rd among all collegiate finishers at the Mountain Dew Gator Invitational... Helped the Golden Panthers to a second-place team finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championships with a 16th-place personal-best time of 18:51.38... Ended the year as FIU’s second-best finisher in 74th place at the NCAA South Regional.

2006: Did not compete.

2005 Outdoor: Scored for the Golden Panthers in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the Sun Belt Conference Championships... Placed fifth in the 10K at the conference meet in a season-best 39:21.43 and was eighth in the 5K... Posted team’s top time in the 5,000, crossing the line in 18:44.55 at the Florida Relays.

2005 Indoor: Competed in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters... Posted a season-best time of 18:46.83 in the 5,000 meters at the Terrier Invitational?the second-best performance on the team that season... Competed in both events at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, posting a season-best time of 10:57.66 in the 5K.

2004 Cross Country: One of six Golden Panthers to record personal-best times, helping the team to a fifth-place finish at the Disney Classic while covering the 5,000-meter course in 19:33.46 to finish 50th among collegians... Ended the season placing 53rd at the Sun Belt Conference Championships. 2004: Outdoors, turned in two top-10 finishes in the 1500 meters, including a season-best 5:10.35 at the FIU Collegiate Invitational... Also competed in the 5,000 meters, placing sixth at the Gatorade Invitational in a season-best 19:30.15... Indoors, ran the first leg of the distance medley relay that placed sixth at the SBC Championships in 12:54.87... Also competed in the 800, mile and 5,000 meters.

2003 Cross Country: Competed in six meets, recording two top-10 finishes and four top-25 finishes... Ran a season-best 19:41.00 in the 5,000 meters to place seventh in the season-opening Sailfish Invitational... Placed 24th at the Sun Belt Championships, helping set a program best with two freshmen finishing in the top 30 in the conference meet.

Prep: Competed in cross country and track & field all four years for the Barracudas... Three-time team MVP?twice for cross country and once for track & field... As a senior, earned all-county honors as her team won district and regional championships.

Personal: Born April 20, 1985, in Miami... Parents are Paul and Ivonne Cardenas... Has one brother, Eric (15)... Also recruited by Florida State and Jacksonville... Nickname is Kit Kat... A sports management major.
