Meet American Pop Artist Michael Albert at Central Library on Friday, June 28th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. “New York-based Pop Artist Michael Albert will bring his Modern Pop Art Experience to Los Angeles for the first time this summer as part of a two-month Pop Art Tour.” Mr. Albert will be running a special Open Drop-In Workshop, where participants will first hear a short artist talk/presentation and then will have the opportunity to “make their collage using Albert’s materials of choice, namely cereal boxes and other printed cardboard packages.” As a special gift for attending, all participants will receive a free, signed poster from a selection of Mr. Albert’s limited edition prints.

The outdoor “movie-screening experience includes comfortable seating on plush bean bag chairs or deep-seated Adirondack chairs,?state-of-the-art projection and sound, and valley views in an upscale event space on the rooftop of Westfield Fashion Square.” Doors open at 7:30 pm with music, games, and giveaways to enjoy before the movie starts at sunset (around 8:30 pm). A number of special activities are planned, such as a “trio of Founding Fellows — Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson & Betsy Ross — will share fascinating stories about their role in the creation of our great nation.” Additionally, visitors can print their own copy of the Declaration of Independence, take part in hands-on activities, enjoy interactive tours, printing demos, and more. Star Wars Day at the OC Zoo

Mark your calendars. On Saturday, June 29th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the Force is with you, because it’s Star Wars Day at the OC Zoo. The fun includes crafts, games, and fun photo opportunities. Zoo animals will receive special treats, and there will be animal meet-and-greets. Visitors are encouraged to wear Star Wars costumes/attire. The first 100 children (12 and younger) in Star Wars costume will receive a special gift and a free train ride ticket to the Irvine Park Railroad.
